On this page you select the finishing tool. For a 3D model this is nearly always a ball nose (or bull nose) tool. These tools, which have a radiused end, are required to create smooth curved shapes on a 3D model. If a flat bottomed tool is used the finished model is likely to look very poor.
The size of tool to use will be a trade-off between the amount of detail required and the machining times. A small tool will pick out finer detail but will require longer machining times. By using ArtCAM MillWizards simulation feature described later, you can make the optimum choice of tool size bearing in mind the trade off between detail and machining times.
